Brett Taylor is a print-media artist from South Florida currently based in Central Virginia. Taylor earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing from the University of Florida and Master of Studio Arts in Printmaking from The Ohio State University.

Taylor’s artistic practice visualizes how the (dis)abled body meets the built world. Employing an autotheoretical approach, combining personal narrative with disability study and theory, Taylor brings to attention the unfixed and changing nature of the body creating print collages, assemblages, and instillations that illustrate how a body shifts and adapts to changes in environment. Across artistic, scholarly, and community-based efforts, Taylor advocates for disability justice, critiquing systems of ableism while celebrating the resilience and creativity of disabled bodies and communities.

Taylor’s work has been exhibited internationally including Field Projects, Highpoint Center for Printmaking, Amos Eno Gallery, Agitator Gallery, the Eliot Museum, the Haugesund Museum of Art, and Shands Hospitals. Taylor has 7 years of teaching experience in community and university print shops. Taylor is currently the Head of Printmaking and Assistant Professor of Printmaking and Expanded Media at James Madison University and serves as President for the Mid America Print Council (2024-26).
